Join the Fight to Reform Government!
The Assembly Appropriations Committee is meeting soon to decide the fate of fiscal bills, including two of my bills, AB 1659 and AB 2130. These bills will require the Legislature to review state entities to determine if the agency is still necessary, should be reorganized or eliminated.
"Sunset Review" has been an integral part of Alyson Huber's quest to reform government and bring more accountability to taxpayers on how the government spends it's money.
Other states have realized long-term savings by implementing similar review processes. In Texas, for example, its Sunset Advisory Commission saves $27 for each dollar spent on the Commission. Furthermore, total savings achieved by the Commission equals roughly 5% of the state's budget - in California 5% is $4 billion.
Encouraging constituents to show their support in moving these bills through the legislative process, Huber promises, "If you send my office a letter or email about the bills, I will make sure the members of the committee know of your support."
