Psalm 104:10-12 (ESV)
10 You (God) make springs gush forth in the valleys;
they flow between the hills;11 they give drink to every beast of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.12 Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell;
they sing among the branches.
This Mockingbird is certainly “among the branches,” but there wasn’t much singing going on. She was hopping from branch to branch like she was trying to hide. It wasn’t easy to get a clear shot. This is from one of my short, 15-minute “photo walks” that I take during my workday. They give me an opportunity to get away from the computer and walk outside. It is really a good idea when you have a job like mine that keeps you tied to a desk all day to periodically get up and walk. I take two breaks during the day, plus lunch, and I walk at each one. Plus I get up about every 20 to 30 minutes to just move around and stretch. My doctor praises me for being so health conscious.
Health really has nothing to do with it. Rather, I’ll take any excuse I can to go out and shoot, even if it is only a short walk around the block. One can see some pretty cool stuff around here.
On this walk, I was actually following a White Tail Kite when I saw the Mockingbird. Since the Kite had landed in another tree I figured I had time to get this image just in case I missed on the Kite which tend to be difficult to shoot. Sometimes it is a good idea to get your backup shot first. Better to have something, though I suppose you really can’t waste a nice walk.
As for the Bible verse at the top. There’s no great spiritual lesson in this post. I just thought the verse made a nice fit.
